Our Previous Trips:

Our students visited Italy in 2007, Spain in 2008 and  Japan in October 2009. Greece and Italy is destination for 2010! We believe that traveling is an inseparable part of any curriculum. It does not have to be necessarily abroad. To get to know one’s city, its parks, museum, cultural avenues is where one should start. Of course, to travel abroad gives us unmatchable insight, inspiration and appreciation.

In 2007 our students visited several beautiful cities in Italy – Rome, Tivoli, Assisi, Florence and Venice.

In 2008 we traveled to Spain to the region of Andalusia where we visited Seville, Cordoba and Granada; in La Mancha we stayed in a medieval city of Toledo and up north in Catalonia we ended our trip in Barcelona.

In 2009 Platt students journeyed to the Land of the Rising Sun to discover the unique culture and unparalleled landscapes of Japan. We walked through sacred Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, visited bubbling Tokyo, Osaka, charming Kyoto, spiritual Kamaratu and Itamu and  reminiscent Hiroshima.  Our visit to Japan let  us experience 11 centuries of history and cutting-edge modernity—all in the same trip. Students emerged with a comprehensive view of how Japan’s culture and vibrant traditions influenced the promising future of this ancient land.

On our  well designed and educational tours the students learned not only the gems of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classicist and Art Nouveau architecture and paintings, wonders of Japan, but had also an opportunity to experience different cultures starting from food  and music to fashion, customs, observed way of life, and also – the European and Japanese graphic design and beloved anime!

Our observant visual art students endlessly commented on billboards, graphic styles of menus, adds, posters, tickets (what a beautiful artistic ticket any museum has!) and anything  “visual”. The expeditions were excellent in all its aspects and opened to all of us a new horizon – a horizon that inspires to learn more, to see more and to employ boldly our creativity.

New friendships were created, many pages of sketchbooks and journals filled and new passion for travel well established. Thus – our goal was met – to show our students a new unexplored path that becomes inseparable part of Platt College San Diego education. Viva Italy 2007! Viva Spain 2008! Viva Japan 2009! Viva Greece 2010!
