Platt students off to Japan
If only I could take all of you, my students! But remember, once you set a goal, you will achieve it if you set your mind to it. It may not be possible right away but it will be possible if you want it to happen. We are fortunate to live in a country that puts limit on no one diligent.
This message is not limited to students leaving on Monday, October 12, 2009 to Tokyo.
My Platt travelers,
You are about to enter the country of samurais, beautiful Buddhas and Shinto temples, tantalizing smells of fried fish and warm sake, melancholic woodcuts of Utamaro and Hokusai, touching haikus of Basho and Issa, bustling city of Tokyo and reminiscent city of Kyoto, splendid views of Mount Fuji and humble and sheepish Japanese who welcome more than other people foreigners.
Be a brave traveler! Be on a quest for seeking originality, not familiarity.
Enjoy yourself by being curious.
I will be there with you as a silent observer of your astonishment that each big adventure offers.
